Ryan Smith (Farmington, ME) and Erica Jesseman (Scarborough, ME) ran home with the championship crowns at this year’s Greater L-A Triple Crown 5K Series.
Smith’s cumulative time of 45:32.7 edged last year’s champion Moninda Marube (47:08). Smith was able to separate himself from Marube with an outstanding time of 15:00 at the L/A Bridge Run in August. Triple Crown Committee member Alan Groudle also ran an excellent series, finishing fifth at 52:21.1.
Jesseman’s total time of 53:56.1 was three minutes better than second place finisher Heather Gallant (56:45.8). Stephanie Beattie, finished third in this year’s series.
Another course record fell as Ryan Smith finished in 15:00, bettering the previous top Bridge Run time by four seconds. Smith held off Jesse Orach (15:33) and Marube (15:48).
On the women’s side, Erica Jesseman, 2016 Triple Crown champ, finished first place with a time of 17:56.
